The Standards Behind Every Review

Not all sportsbook reviews are created equal. Some are written in minutes based on a surface-level look at a homepage. Ours are not. Every platform we cover is put through a structured, repeatable evaluation process built around what actually matters to bettors.

Our editors are experienced analysts in the US sports betting space. They know how sportsbooks operate, where the value tends to hide, and where operators cut corners. That knowledge shapes every rating we publish.

What We Stand For

Four values guide everything we publish: fairness, transparency, accuracy, and a player-first focus. No sportsbook gets a favorable rating because of its marketing budget. No platform gets buried because of a commercial disagreement. Our job is to give bettors an honest read on where to place their money and where to be cautious.

We earn revenue through affiliate partnerships, and we want to be straightforward about that. However, those relationships do not determine how sportsbooks are rated. Our editorial team strives to evaluate every platform on its actual merits, and ratings are based on the criteria below, not on the value of a commercial deal.

The Criteria We Use

Odds Quality

Competitive odds are one of the most important factors a bettor should consider. We compare lines across multiple sportsbooks to assess how sharp a platform’s pricing is. Better odds mean more value over time, and this criterion carries significant weight in our overall ratings.

Market Range

A sportsbook’s value to a bettor depends partly on what it covers. We look at the breadth of sports and leagues available, the depth of bet types on offer, and whether niche markets are accessible alongside major events. A platform that only covers the NFL and NBA tells us something; one that spans college sports, international leagues, and alternate lines tells us something different.

Live Betting

In-play wagering has become a core part of the sports betting experience. We assess how well a sportsbook handles live markets: how quickly lines update, how many in-game options are available, and whether the platform remains stable under the kind of traffic a big game brings.

Promotions

Welcome bonuses and ongoing promotions matter, but we look beyond the headline numbers. We examine wagering requirements, expiry terms, eligible markets, and how accessible an offer genuinely is for the average bettor. A generous-looking bonus with restrictive conditions ranks lower than a modest offer with clear, fair terms.

Cash-Out Options

The ability to cash out a bet before it settles gives bettors meaningful control over their exposure. We evaluate whether a sportsbook offers cash-out, how consistently it is available across bet types, and whether partial cash-out is an option. Reliability matters here as much as availability.

Mobile Experience

With most US bettors placing wagers on mobile devices, app and mobile site quality is non-negotiable. We test performance across devices, looking at load times, navigation, bet placement speed, and whether the full range of features available on desktop carries over to mobile.

Licensing

A sportsbook must hold valid licensing in the states where it operates. We verify regulatory standing before any review is published. Platforms operating without proper authorization are not featured in our recommendations, regardless of how strong their product may otherwise be.

How the Process Works

Each sportsbook goes through the same structured evaluation. Our team places real bets where possible, tests customer support, reads the fine print on promotions, and cross-references player feedback from multiple sources. Nothing is taken at face value.

Once a review is live, it does not stay static. The US sports betting market evolves constantly, and we revisit ratings regularly to account for changes in a platform’s product, terms, or conduct. If a sportsbook improves, our coverage reflects that. If standards slip, that gets reflected too.

Player Protection Is Non-Negotiable

Sportsbooks that show a pattern of poor conduct toward players, unclear terms, or unreliable payouts are excluded from our positive recommendations. Player safety and fair treatment are baseline requirements, not optional extras. A platform that cannot meet those standards will not appear in our rated lists, regardless of its other features.
